In Agile/Scrum process, we capture requirements in User Story format. Defining User Stories effectively is a key for Agile/Scrum project success. In this session, we will discuss why writing User Stories are much more effective than Traditional Requirements Gathering approach, what are the key elements of a good User Story and guidelines for writing effective User Stories.

This course is mostly targeted for Business Analysts and Product Owners/Mangers (if your company is already following Agile processes).

Syed Rayhan has a total of 13 years of experiences developing a wide range of complex IT solutions primarily for the financial industry. He has long been practicing iterative development (RUP). While working at Capital One as an architect, he was first introduced to SCRUM. The transition to SCRUM and embracing the underlying Agile philosophy was immediate. He founded Code71 which uses SCRUM as its solution delivery model. He is now working on adapting SCRUM for remote delivery in the context of off-shore outsourcing. He has built  a Web-based Agile project management platform called ScrumPad. It combines Agile project management with Agile service market place.

Over the years, he developed enterprise architecture, performed technology planning, and led various complex IT projects using variety of technologies and platforms. Before Capital One, he worked at Freddie Mac, IBM, and Imagesoft Technologies in various capacities as a Technologist. He co-authored a technology book titled “Enterprise Java with UML” published by Wiley and Sons.

Syed earned his undergraduate degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from BUET (Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology), and his MS in Computer Engineering from University of Central Florida. He also completed his MBA from Kenan-Flagler Business School at UNC (University of north Carolina), Chapel Hill. He is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, the International Honor Society for academic excellence in business education.
